Ideation for source.how

I worked together with founder Jason Stevens on a paid freelance project to help SOURCE.how ā€” his startup aimed at driving operational efficiencies amongst software teams ā€” define its problem space and generate future product ideas using design thinking methods and mindsets. As part of my work with SOURCE.how, I facilitated 2 remote ideation workshops with external participants in which we produced over 70 ideas that will be synthesized and carried into the prototyping stage.

Miro board used throughout the workshop for participants to collaborate, share, and document ideas.

Pre-work

In preparation for hosting ideation workshops, I collaborated with Jason to synthesize research and solidify the user we planned to design for and the operational efficiency challenges they face within their software product teams.

We came out of this phase of work with a couple of artifacts: user persona, empathy map, journey map, user need statement, and a How Might We question. These artifacts were then shared with workshop participants prior and during the workshop to ground the group in the problem space.

Additionally, I dedicated a significant amount of time to workshop-specific preparation which included detailed agendas, designing the Miro workshop space, establishing clear instructions for exercises, and logistical dry-runs.

workshop results

On back-to-back days, I facilitated two 2-hour ideation workshops with a total of 12 participants from all over the world.

We left the sessions with over 70 ideas to take with us into the prototyping phase! Iā€™m excited to continue to work with SOURCE.how to further develop their product.
